The Schools Museum is operated and maintained by volunteers.
New volunteers are always welcome!
Here are some current volunteer opportunities:
Catalogue - Help to record the museum's artefact collection by entering data into a database (training provided).
Public programs - Assist with activities such as running a booth at the heritage fair, playing the schoolmistress or schoolmaster for visiting classes, assisting with class activities, helping organize, set-up or run museum special events.
Organize - Sort filing cabinet contents; Sort museum artefacts into groups of similar objects.
Marketing - Help to expand the museum's presence by identifying new organizations that the museum programs could be marketed to. Create marketing packages and follow-up with contacts.
Oral History project - Interview, record and transcribe the memories and stories of local teachers or students who attended schools throughout the area.
Shop - A very casual position. Seek out and purchase inexpensive but thoughtful gifts for guest speakers, retirement gifts, and special gifts of appreciation, etc.
Please contact the museum to learn more about these opportunities.
